This course will offer you a chance to develop and improve technical throwing skills. You will practice new techniques to alter and embellish thrown forms using a variety of tools and methods. Afterwards, students will explore glazing and firing processes, discuss historical and contemporary ceramics, and continue to generate new work on a more independent level with regular interaction from the instructor
Masks must be worn at all times on campus and during classes; temperature checks are required before entering class/open studio. Clay and ceramic tools can be purchased in the ceramics building.

Michael Blair worked as a studio potter and teacher for ten years after earning an MFA in Ceramics from University of Georgia. From 1980-84 he was the head of the ceramics department at the Evanston Art Center in Illinois. He was one of the first artists in residence at the PBC School of the Arts and worked for 13 years as prop-master at Florida Stage until it closed in 2011.
