A Statement from the Artist
The series started with a watercolor painting with the full moon. Since I was a child of the “space race”, the name for the first finished painting came from the Apollo 11 moon landing, “Sea of Tranquility.” It occurred to me that the ocean, moon, sea life in general seems to have a calming effect on us human beings. The glow of the moon, sparkling over the waves, the slow grace and beauty of a sea turtle swimming in the blue waters of the gulf, palm trees swaying to the beat of the ocean waves, just sings to my soul. My goal of this series is to make my viewer sigh with relief from their soul, to take a deep breath and imagine a place of peace, tranquility and our natural world. “Stop and smell the roses.”
