WEST PALM BEACH, FL, December 30, 2016. Perspectives in Fiber: Moving Beyond Tradition features 76 pieces of original artwork by 36 Florida fiber artists with work in four categories: Wall Works, Sculpture, Baskets/Vessels, and Wearables. This juried exhibition produced by the South Florida Basket and Fiber Guild showcases artwork that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and represents contemporary approaches to fiber art. The opening reception is Friday, January 6, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The exhibit runs from January 7th to February 9th at the Armory Annex in Lake Worth located at 1121 Lucerne Avenue, Lake Worth, FL 33460.
“This is not your ordinary art exhibit. Our goal is to inspire and delight by showcasing Florida artists that are cutting edge without a canvas. We plan to WOW viewers with artworks ranging in size from 3 inches to 16 feet” said Mary Catello, President of the South Florida Basket and Fiber Guild
The South Florida Basket and Fiber Guild, founded in 2013, is a non-profit organization comprised of fiber artists and enthusiasts from around South Florida who share diverse but allied interests in the fiber arts. Their mission is to promote a community that inspires interest and creativity in basketry and the fiber arts among both emerging and seasoned artists through education, opportunity, and camaraderie. More information about the Guild can be found online at www.southfloridabasketandfiberguild.org
