POLICIES

To keep our building safe and our classes and studio access program running smoothly, the Armory Art Center maintains these sets of policies.

Our studio policies apply to anyone who uses our studios. Only those currently registered in a full term class are eligible to use our studios or have access to purchase open studio time.

Anyone working in Armory Art Center studios is expected to adhere to these general studio policies:

  • Follow all studio-specific policies, as posted in the studio, on your class handouts or as directed by department directors or Armory administration.
  • You must adhere to all studio policies as well as the Armory Code of Conduct.
  • You must wear the required safety gear as instructed.
  • Some materials, such as clay and glass, are sold on site. All materials sold on site must be paid for before use.
  • Storage varies by studio. Many studios do not allow for the storage of materials, in-progress projects, completed artwork or other personal belongings. Consult your studios’ Director to understand the storage availability in the studio in which you’ll be working. Lockers are available for rent to keep materials onsite.
  • Armory tools and equipment must be kept in the building and accessible to all; do not remove these items from the studio or store them in your own personal storage or lockers.
  • Report any damage, hazards or necessary maintenance to our front desk staff immediately. They can ensure that the appropriate Armory staff member receives the message and attends to the issue.
  • If you witness any misuse of equipment, disruptive behavior, or behavior that goes against Armory policies or code of conduct, please report this to the front desk as soon as possible.
  • Please do not consume food in our studios. Eating is allowed in indoor common areas and outdoors in our courtyard. Beverages are permitted, provided the container has a lid.
  • Please be courteous to staff and everyone working in the studio. Always consult with others in the space before using any methods or techniques that could interfere with their work, including playing music.
  • Always leave the studio as clean or cleaner than you found it and reset the studio to neutral, as posted.
  • Wear proper attire for your studio space. We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes, tie back long hair, and avoid loose-fitting clothing.
  • Plan for clean-up and make sure you are the leaving the studio  before the end time of your scheduled hours.

Failure adhere to all studio, building and safety policies and guidelines as well as the Armory Art Center's Code of Conduct can result in a temporary or permanent suspension from the studio programs. In such cases, refunds are not granted.

Our visitor policy applies to anyone visiting Armory Art Center as a guest.

We are happy to welcome visitors to the Armory Art Center. Our facility and gallery are open M and Fr 9-5p, Tues-Thur 9-7p and Sa 9-3:30p ! To ensure the safety and security of our community, we do have guidelines in place for what visitors are able to see and do at Armory Art Center

A visitor is anyone not coming to the center for a scheduled meeting, class, or work shift. Visitors are welcome to view exhibitions or attend events in our facility. However, visitors are not able to visit classrooms or studios throughout the building or use our studios or common areas as a work or meeting space. This is to ensure the safety of our facility, as well as ensure we are providing a positive studio environment needed for artists, students, and teachers. We are happy to make an exception for parents or guardians, who are welcome to wait in the commons area to pick up their student.

For anyone interested in seeing the studios and facility, we recommend emailing Mark Lester, Education Director at educationdirector@armoryart.org to schedule a tour. If a staff member is available during your visit, our front desk staff are happy to facilitate this as well.

All visitors are asked to sign into our visitor book at the front desk and provide their name, arrival and departure time, and an optional email address if they would like to be added to our mailing list. Students should check in at the front desk before going to any class.

Thank you for helping us keep Armory Art Center a safe, welcoming, and productive space!
