TEACHING ARTISTS

The Armory Art Center seeks qualified art instructors to teach art classes or workshops for young artists and/or adults in studio areas in all media. We want to expand or add instruction in the following areas. We are not limited to them: Jewelry (all areas), Ceramics (all areas), painting (all areas), printmaking, glass, fibers, drawing (all areas), digital (all areas photo, procreate, film, sculpture (clay, welding, stone), sewing, knitting, lectures, workshops, mixed media, illustration, and more! Let us know if you aren’t a visual arts instructor but want to combine art and other media. For example, creative writing and drawing, yoga and visual journaling, comic book illustration and dialogue, and graphic novels. We are always looking for great instructors and great ideas!

SUMMER CAMP TEACHERS
The Armory Art Center is seeking qualified teaching artists to instruct summer art classes and camps for young artists and/or teens in one or more disciplines: Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Portfolio Development, 3D-design, and more. Please be prepared to present portfolio images and examples of student work if possible. All instructors must participate in a training session, pass a background check, and provide a weekly class curriculum with a day-to-day breakdown of projects. SUMMER CAMP TEEN VOLUNTEERS
Summer Camp Volunteering at the Armory Art Center is a stimulating, educational, and rewarding experience! Our volunteers are essential to the Center’s studio life’s “behind-the-scenes” activities. Volunteers will gain real-life experience assisting seasoned teaching artists and youth campers in various activities. Summer Camp Volunteers must be in high school; there is no incoming freshman. The Armory Art Center is a great place to obtain service hours while immersed in a creative and educational environment. Summer Art Camp Volunteers must be committed to completing an entire week of a summer camp session and be here all day from 8:30am – 4:30pm.
Volunteers can apply to be Teacher Assistants or Camp leaders. We will only accept a limited number of volunteers for each session. If you are interested in volunteering and want to do it in a creative environment while gaining real-life experience working in the arts from an educational perspective, this is the program for you! Teen volunteers must be 15 -17 years old.
TEEN ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Teen Advisory Council gives local teens a voice in shaping teen programs and experiences at the Armory Art Center. Designed by teens, for teens, the Council will help us create a space that feels welcoming, relevant, creative, and connected to what teens actually want.
- Meet every two months with Armory staff
- Share ideas about classes, workshops, art media, exhibitions, and events
- Give feedback on how the Armory can better welcome and serve teens
- Help shape marketing and outreach to local teens
- Recommend programs and experiences they and their peers would actually attend
- Have opportunities to plan and develop their own teen-led events, exhibitions, and creative projects
- Build experience in leadership, collaboration, and arts programming
- Volunteer service hours for their participation
- A 10% discount on classes
- Opportunities to develop leadership skills and have a real impact on teen programming
CALL FOR MODELS
The Armory is looking for qualified and experienced figure-drawing models to add to our roster.
- Be able to provide a full range of traditional life drawing poses, from gestures to sustained poses, as required by tradition and the instructor.
- Must be professional and punctual.
- Previous experience as an artist’s model. References are required.
- Be physically able to provide a full range of body gestures and poses, from quick gestures (30 sec) to holding long, sustained poses (25 min).
- Commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning, and working environment that honors diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
