What a Great Relief! The Repoussé Process with Linda Priest
This workshop is about sculpting metal directly to create reliefs on small-scale sculptures or jewelry. Linda will demonstrate the process she utilizes in all of her wearable pieces. Students will learn the basics on how to move and control the metal by intensely working both sides with the use of finely shaped tools, a hammer and a pitch bowl, to achieve amazing depth and forms. It is a process where you can be more expressive, because it is just you, simple tools and a hammer intently moving the metal, giving you a change embed a bit of your personality into what you are making. Demonstrations will cover 3 entirely different projects that will show you how to push and stretch the metal in a controlled fashion to develop dimensions, shapes and textures. Tools will be discussed, how to make your own, reshaping purchased ones, hammers, pitch, pitch bowls, and metals.
